Gone too soon? Christina Milian and her professional dance partner, Mark Ballas, were left stunned after being sent home during week five of Dancing With the Stars Season 17 on Monday, Oct. 14.
"I was shocked, for sure," the 32-year-old singer told reporters after the show. "I'm not saying it should have been anyone else, but -- to be honest with you -- after having a great performance you feel a lot more confident, but in the back of your mind you know a lot of this is determined by votes. A lot of it has to do with that and we knew last week wasn't the best week based on everything with Julianne [Hough] and all the stuff that happened, so we weren't sure what the outcome would be. I guess it just didn't work out."

Last week, Milian and Ballas, 27, received some controversial criticism from guest judge and former dance pro Hough. "There were moments where I felt like choreography-wise, I felt like it was two people dancing side-by-side rather than together," the 25-year-old actress said. "So I really want to see [Milian] shine. I've danced with Mark. You have to stand in front to make sure you're seen."
After the show, Ballas called Hough's commentary "hypocritical" and insiders told Us Weekly he was "furious." Hough stood by her comments and told Us, "I judge the same way I teach so it all comes from love. It's not to diss anybody."

Miian told Us that she doesn't necessarily blame Hough's comments as the reason they were eliminated. "She has a presence and followers and she's very likable, so I mean, not to say . . . I guess we could have probably worked on our dance a little bit more," the "Dip It Low" singer said. "I don't want to take anything away . . . But honestly who knows. I don't want to blame it on that."
She did, however, admit that her solo dance number in the beginning of her performance was "absolutely" in response to Hough. "Mark purposely said, 'Okay, well if she thinks I overshadow you, we're going to have a whole intro with just you dancing,'" Miian explained.

Though she's leaving the show before she wants to go home, Milian told Us she has no regrets. "No regrets at all," she said. "It was a great experience and I wish I could be here longer."
